Updates: Late Summer/Fall Programs & Upcoming Events
We have had a busy summer and are actively finalizing the exhibition schedule for 2020. The schedule will include a number of exhibitions exploring photographic topics and practices not covered in past seasons, including a call for work in alternate processes. As always, in addition to our invitational exhibitions, we will be producing our three popular annual members’ exhibitions, the Open Community, the Juried Members’ and the Holiday Members’ exhibition. The 2020 Members’ Holiday show will include a Print Swap and members will have the option to provide bagged/matted prints for sale. New for 2020 will be the Focus Exhibition. This new exhibition, based on the positive feedback we have had over the presentation of work in our current juried members’ exhibition, will present multiple works from a small number of members and invited guests. The exhibition will provide a way to feature and explore bodies of work in progress without the costs involved in mounting solo shows. We hope use this exhibition to promote and engage more members through gallery exhibitions.
As always I would like to thank you for your continued support and ask you to like & follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @RIPhotoArts. We welcome you to join our Facebook group The RI Center for Photographic Arts where we share and promote member activities and other events of note beyond our galleries. I would also encourage you to check our website regularly at RIPhotoCenter.org for updates on these and other programs. In the meantime read on for some of the upcoming events still to coming in 2019

7th International Open Call Exhibition: Neal Rantoul, Juror
September 19th: We will open our 7th International Open Call Exhibition
Neal Rantoul writes in his juror’s statement – I found it a very difficult process to select from almost 700 submissions. Please know that if you didn’t get in the show it is not a reflection on the lack of quality of your photography… As Director, I would add that the amount of exhibition space available is always the single largest limiting factor in any exhibition.
Work from 64 photographers has been selected for this upcoming look at contemporary trends in photographic practice. Entry has closed and notices have gone out to everyone who submitted to the call. Currently we have confirmation from roughly half of the 64 artists invited to exhibit. If you entered and didn’t receive notification check your CaFE account or email us at gallery@riphotocenter.org
