Update from the Director…
There is much to be thankful for this holiday season…
November 2023 brought the FRAMES Photography Circle Member Exhibition, the Juror’s talk and Awards Presentation for our Interlines, Lifelines, Redlines exhibition & our 5th Annual Members Call for Entries… AND the launch of our 10th International Call for Entries with Karen Haas as Juror.
The year has also brought us… many new members, the opportunity to reconnect with members we haven’t seen in person for a long time and the opportunity to host a growing number of our out of town members. We have also forged new connections both locally and abroad to expand our reach and promote the work of our members to a wider audience. While Members keep the doors open, Members are also our reason for being… We are here to share and promote the work of our members while we help our members grow through exhibitions, workshops, mentorships and by exposing them to new work, new ways of thinking through the exhibition of work they wouldn’t see otherwise. If you are new, of if you have been following along online, I would encourage you to join and to become an active part of our community in 2024. Membership runs 365 days from when you signup and includes many benefits, including the opportunity to participate in our three member exhibitions. Membership starts by registering at https://www.riphotocenter.org/registration
As we head into a new year we are excited to have Karen Haas on board as juror for our 10th Annual International Call for Entries. Karen, for those of you who don’t know, is the Lane Senior Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and an active part of the local photographic community. Entry is open now for an exhibition in March.
Entry is closing soon for our 5th Annual Juried Member Exhibition and I am excited to have Jessica Burko as the juror for this exhibition to start 2024. Entry closes December 1st. New members welcome…
The Juror’s talk and Awards Presentation for our Interlines, Lifelines, Redlines exhibition. Has been added the the Exhibition Webpage and the award winning entries posted with the juror’s comments. We have also created a direct link to the award winning entries and jurors talk for those who have already explored the exhibition.
I would like to thank Tomasz Trzebiatowski, Editor & Chief of FRAMES Magazine, W. Scott Olsen, Writer & Interviewer for FRAMES Magazine, for their interest, support and assistance in mounting our current Member exhibition for the FRAMES Photography Circle. I would also like to thank all the Photography Circle Members around the globe who participated in the exhibition for sharing their work with our members and gallery visitors. I would also like to extend a very special thanks to those members who flew in to be a part of exhibition in person. We are looking forward to continuing this truly international connection.

FRAMES Photography Circle Member Exhibition
FRAMES Photography Circle, a Swiss based, international collection of photographers, is coming to Providence to share their work in their first gallery exhibition. I hope you can join us on November 16th to meet the members and view their work. The mission for FRAMES, a quarterly print publication, and the related Photography Circle closely parallels our mission, and vision at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts. Hosting an exhibition for this talented group, who up to this point, have only had the opportunity to share their work online continues our mission to build community and provide a space to view contemporary photography on the walls and in person. The exhibition will bring new work, new points of view and work not readily accessible elsewhere to walls of our gallery.
About FRAMES: from the Founder & Editor Tomasz Trzebiatowski
The FRAMES Photography Circle (FPC) is an international group of members who share a deep passion for photography and are interested in furthering their photographic knowledge and skills. It is directly tied to the FRAMES Magazine, a well-respected quarterly printed photography publication. Members of the FPC are part of an international network, exchanging not only photographic expertise and knowledge but also business connections and life experiences. Members have regular and exclusive access to some of the world’s top photographers and artists in person – not only online but also during occasional on-location meetings organized in the major cities in different parts of the world.
One of the objectives of FPC activities is to present our members with regular opportunities to exhibit their photographic work in various international locations and to get involved in a self-curation process consciously.
