Updates for Spring & Summer Programs and Exhibitions (so far)
We have had a successful winter and there are a lot of upcoming events to share so I am dispensing with the letter format and hitting all the events and opportunities in a list format. Here is what’s currently on the schedule and there are additional projects and events in the works not quite ready to be released, so keep checking the website or our social media feeds. In the meantime here is what’s happening and there are a few deadlines just around the corner…
Ralph Mercer’s Dare alle Luce and John Reuter’s Polaroid Possibilities is on view through May 10th.

Last Call, One night only, May 14th 5:00 – 9:00pm. Last Call is a popup exhibition for the advanced photography students from Bridgewater State University. Join us in supporting these talented students by coming to their end of semester exhibition. One night, May 14th and then it’s gone…
Kev Filmore’s 21 Magnolia Rd. and our 2nd Annual Community Member’s Exhibition opens on May 16th and will be on view through June 14th. There is still time to enter and more information is available on our website.

Join us at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts for an open peer review. Bring a few prints, half a dozen will do or just come to observe and share your feedback. Workshops:
On the Street with David Wells June 7-8th:
Join us for this two day session at PVDFest with David Wells. A chance to pickup some valuable insights on shooting in public spaces and the opportunity to enjoy capturing this popular street festival. The workshop starts with a presentation at the center before moving on to the street festival to photograph and concludes the following day with a review session. Street Photography with Eileen and Olaf: June17-19th:
A workshop for photographers with an interest in Street Photography or moving their work to the Next Level. Includes presentation and review of techniques used to create meaningful photographs with examples of past and current masters of street photography. The focus will be on practical application and helping to develop a theme or project to move your photography to the next level with shooting time and suggested locations included.

Photo Books & Story Telling with Michael Itkoff: July 13th
A workshop for both students and professionals with an interest in making their project into a book, projects can be of any nature, personal, thematic, documentary etc. The main goal of the workshop is an edited and sequenced portfolio of images ready to present to portfolio reviews or publishers. This workshop provides inside access to Daylight Publishing and participants will gain insight into the world of photography book publishing in general.

Photo Stories: Juried Call for Entries Still time to put your work in front of juror Michael Itkoff, founder of Daylight Publishing for this exhibition of work in series. Time Zero and Beyond: A Call for Instant Photography
Open to Instant photographs, any subject matter in any style or brand. Polaroid, Fuji INSTAX, Kodak or Zink prints will be accepted including composite, peal apart or transfers. Manipulated prints, view camera work or snapshots are all welcome. Work printed from Type 55 negatives or reclaimed instant negatives are also welcome. This show is an opportunity to explore or revisit instant photography in all its forms. No theme or prompt, new work or old.
Juror: John Reuter. John is a master photographer, Director of 20×24 Studios and adjunct professor of photography at the University of Hartford.

August: Will bring our popular Juried Member’s Exhibition with a First Place prize of a solo show next August. Sharing the galleries will be Solo exhibitions by last year’s First Place winner, Elizabeth Graham and Ancestors by Member JP Terlizzi.
Entry is Free for Exhibiting Members and above, $25 for Community Members, membership is required. Memberships may be purchased at time of entry on our website at https://www.riphotocenter.org/membership-info/
Juried Member’s Exhibition: Opening Reception August 15th, on view through September 13th.
