August 2024…
One nation… and a new Call for Entries to revisit, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness in 2024…
Snapshot America, a Call for Entries
We are looking to create a Snapshot of America in 2024.
This is a call for both a gallery exhibition and a companion book that will feature a larger collection of images. From Main St. to your backyard and everything in between, we want to take America’s portrait and share your view of America. Details on our website for an exhibition opening on October 17th.
This call is a chance for us to explore street photography, and for some, a more direct documentary approach to photography, while enjoying time outdoors. Explore your backyard, or your hometown and show us what America is to you today.

Call For Entry
America Today:
A Snapshot of Our Time
Building on an idea laid down by Edward Steichen in The Family of Man exhibition, expanded on by Robert Frank in The Americans and with a small nod to 24hrs in Cyberspace, by Rick Smolan we are looking to take America’s portrait in 2024.
This is a call for entries to capture, in photographs, [the United States of] America today. We are looking for pictures of your community, your friends, your neighborhood, local events, landmarks and just everyday activities that represent life in America today. We are looking for entries from all 50 states and 14 Territories that comprise the United States of America for a gallery exhibition and larger companion book to document the unique times we live in as we take a Snapshot of the United States today.
From Main Street to your Back Yard, from the everyday activities to the grand celebrations and the tragedies that touch us all, we want to see what your America looks like. What image defines present day America for you? What best represents the city or town you live in? What gives you the strength to get up in the morning? What keeps you up at night? These are some of the ideas we are looking for as we put together this time capsule of United States of America in the 2024.
Join us in creating this 21st Century Portrait of the United States of America.
This is a call for Street Photography, images Straight Out of Camera and all photographs that capture your real world experience.

5th Annual Spotlight Member Exhibition
Join us on August 15th for an Opening Reception in this spotlight on our Members as selected by this year’s juror, Frances Jakubek.
Join us in exploring work by members: Lee Cott, Laurie Peek, Reed Pike, Keith Prue, Matt Temple, Sean Sullivan and Martha Wakefield
One of three annual member exhibitions, this Spotlight series was conceived as a way to present ideas that carry across a group of images and to shine a light on our members. This juried exhibition provides the selected members the opportunity to present a larger selection of images than a typical juried show. As a viewer I hope you enjoy this expanded look at the members featured and the different ways they assembled a selection of images to present an idea beyond a single frame.
India Point Park is Turning 50
An Opportunity Open to anyone, but Requires Local Access…
The Friends of Inda Point Park are marking the event with a photography contest for an exhibition of photographs that celebrate and capture life in the park. Entry is open to anyone who has entered Middle School, regardless of how long ago that may have bee.
The park is an oft visited local attraction where Providence meets the top of Narragansett Bay, the site has seen many uses over the years. A right turn leaving the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts and about a mile and half down Main St. will bring you there. In addition to morning yoga in the park and all the other expected activities, it currently serves as an embarkation point for American Cruise Lines excursions to the Islands, a small connection to it’s past as an arrival point for immigrants arriving to power the industrial revolution.
I have been invited to be one of the jurors for their exhibition to be presented on the fences in the park. Additionally we will be closing out our 2024 exhibition cycle with an expanded exhibition of photographs from this call celebrating the park paired with historical look at India Point over the years in our Focus Gallery.
