Art in the Atrium: re/vision re/visited
Join us for a Closing Reception on March 13th.
This is the second exhibition for re/vision, a peer to peer review group at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts, started during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the beginning we met weekly on Zoom, to stay connected, provide an incentive to stay active, and hopefully find new directions to explore as travel restrictions halted most ongoing projects…. Five years later, we continue to meet bi-weekly on Zoom with alternating in person meetings as schedules allow.
Currently re/vision is; Angela C. Brown, Bill Clark, David DeMelim, Deb Ehrens & Keith Prue. This exhibition revisits work first produced for a portfolio project at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts in April 2021 but focuses on our shared experience. New work, and new ways of thinking about previously produced work, arrived at through sharing and collaboration make for a unique exhibition. The work presented reflects the ethos and vision of each individual member, made stronger by the support and feedback of all the participants.
I hope you can join us at Art in the Atrium, located at One Benevolent St. (on the corner of Benefit & Benevolent Streets) and meet this talented group of Members.

About: Angela
Generally speaking, I make photos of scenes or moments that excite me, or simply put … “make me feel”. They can be simple or they can be complex, but I’m looking for the feeling… I enjoy photographs that transport me from daily corporate life to a more tranquil and evocative place. That’s the feeling and experience I want people to have when they see my work. To be drawn in to another experience.

Bill Clark

About: Bill
Photography records the reality of what is happening before the camera lens. Many choose to document an expansive landscape, a carefully lit human face, or record a special celebration. I have chosen to explore the infinitely individualized reality and ambiguity of the abstract.
With a concentration on the interpretive power of abstract perception, I work to tease the inner imagination of the viewer. The results are mysterious and poetic landscapes that reveal energetic patterns, or the whisper of delicate detail.
My goal is to engage the viewer by creating an interactive experience. Each one of us brings our own background in front of a photograph. Therefore, each of us brings a unique perspective and contemplation to the work, inviting individuals to look deeper, to open the door to a unique interpretation of the image.

David DeMelim
About: David
David DeMelim is an artist, educator, and Managing Director of the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts.
As a printmaker and photographer, I have been involved with computer generated graphics from the initial releases of Digital Darkroom and Photoshop. This early involvement with technology has influenced both my artistic passions and professional path. A career provided access to the latest in ever evolving imaging technology and fed a desire to create new ways to capture, create, and present photographic images. That said, I have no doubt, born 50 years earlier, I would have been a painter.

Deb Ehrens

About: Deb
I am a self-taught artist creating painterly and contemplative imagery with age-old artisan techniques and modern digital tools. The repeating refrains of form, color, and light are at the heart of my botanical studies. For re/vision re/visited, I have captured unexpected visual conversations when botanical lines and gestures interact with the larger world.
