re/vision, is a peer to peer review group at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts, started during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to meet bi-monthly, to stay connected, find new directions to explore, and support each other’s individual efforts…. This exhibition presents a selection of images informed by our shared experience.
We are happy to present a selection of new work, and new ways of thinking about previously produced work, arrived at through collaboration and our shared experience. The work presented reflects the ethos and vision of each individual member, made stronger by the support and feedback of all the participants.
We hope you can join us at the Marion Art Center, for the Opening Reception on April 20th 5:00-7:00pm
The Marion Art Center is located at 80 Pleasant St, Marion, MA.

Visions of Grace, Harmony & Solitude
re/vision at the Marion Art Center
80 Pleasant St. Marion, MA
While we each find the process of making art a contemplative and often solitary experience, we are driven by a desire or need to share and connect with the larger world. Our re/vision group sits between these two poles of isolation and community, offering a place to share work in progress and ideas not fully formed without fear. Mutual respect for each member’s talents and the trust and familiarity developed over years of working together provide an added motivation to continue innovating. While our individual practices, styles, and approaches to photography diverge wildly, we are drawn together by our shared desire to keep innovating and reinventing our work and ourselves. The rhythm of that creative connection flows through our varied interpretations of Grace, Harmony, and Solitude.

David DeMelim

About: David
David DeMelim is an artist, educator, and Managing Director of the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts.
As a printmaker and photographer, early involvement with technology has influenced both my artistic passions and professional path. While career provided access to the latest in imaging technologies, my passion has always been in exploring new ways to capture, create, and present photographic images. Capturing the world that passes in front of my lens, is the goal, developing new ways to capture and create a visual narrative is my passion. There are no Kodak moments, but rather a syncopated succession of moments that I combine to recall, record or share an event. Occasionally the carefully crafted single image, speaks louder and more clearly then a whole series of images. The challenge lies in recognizing which approach speaks more clearly…
