An Exhibition of Contemporary Photography
The work in this exhibition was selected from an international call for entries to present a survey of current photographic practice. This open call was conceived to create a showcase for contemporary photography and we would like to thank everyone who submitted work for consideration. In the end, 66 photographers were selected from 21 States, Finland, and England to be a part of our 7th Open Call. We are excited to be producing this exhibition, providing the opportunity to bring the work of so many new photographers to Providence. Unfortunately many entries had to be excluded due to limitations of space and we will be reviewing all entries at a later date as we look for photographers to feature in 2021.

Juror’s statement – Neal Rantoul
It was an honor to spend time with so much work and so much work of high quality. I found it a very difficult process to select from almost 700 submissions. Please know that if you didn’t get in the show it is not a reflection on the lack of quality of your photography, and I encourage you to keep submitting to competitions. My own background, proclivities and aesthetic played a large role in my selections. Some other juror would have doubtless made very different decisions.
Photography is a large, diverse and pervasive medium as we approach the end of the second decade of the 21st century. I hope you all will continue to participate, work to make your photographs uniquely yours and work to refine their quality and distinctiveness.
