My trip to Cuba is fast fading in the rearview mirror… While I was fortunate enough to have the rare opportunity to exhibit my own work in the city of Camagüey, Cuba, I have not been gifted the time to process the experience, or the images. Beyond the image above, I don’t have pictures to share (yet). I will share that Cuba is far more than old American cars and crumbling facades, there are old Russian cars, new Chinese cars, electric scooters, and people, everywhere you go people are on the move, but never in a rush. My commitments here and elsewhere make it doubtful I’ll have much more to share anytime soon. I can report that plans are in the works for an exchange exhibition, but will take at least the rest of the year formalize the plan, and gain approvals, which means we are probably looking at 2026. In the meantime, the schedule here in Providence is filling up with a host of new programs coming online in the coming months.
March highlights include…
We have extended the deadline to enter “Beyond the Photograph” The Call presents the challenge to address and explore AI generated or augmented imagery as a new tool to be explored and adapted to the will of the artist and not as a replacement. The exhibition seeks to explore Artificial Intelligence against a long tradition of aids to create Photorealistic images and is open to all media that attempts to present a photorealistic image. Details and links are included below under “Calls for Entry” The selected images will make up this year’s exhibition to explore alternate processes.
