Currently in the gallery: Our 11th Annual International Juried Exhibition, Thanks to our jurors, Zora J Murff and Rana Young for their efforts in putting this exhibition together, which runs through June 13th.
We are hosting a Closing Reception & After Party for Exhibitors, Members and their Guests on June 13th from 5:00-7:00pm.
Work will be available to take home at the end of the evening.
Our first Call for Entries for Street Photography is open with On the Street: with Harvey Stein. We will be following up with more programing focused on Street Photography, in the run up to this Street Photography exhibition in September, with Harvey Stein as juror.
Analog Saturdays: Join us for our next meetup on May 3rd, for conversation, sharing and occasional presentations by members and service providers. Open to Members and prospective members, shooting film, or an interest in working with any analog process.

Entry will be open to images in all photographic processes or styles that explore or represent resistance, seen or unseen. Open to Electrical, Physical, Emotional, Intellectual or ANY other type of resistance you are interested in representing.
Entered images will be selected on their individual merit.

On the Street: with Harvey Stein
a Call for Street Photography
Entry is open for On the Street a call for Street Photography for an exhibition in September. While Street Photography has been included in most of our exhibitions at the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts, this call will be our first in depth look at this accessible yet challenging style of photography. We are excited to have Harvey Stein on board as juror for our first juried call for Street Photography.
Stein’s photographs are in over 60 museum, corporate and private collections. He currently teaches at the International Center of Photography in New York and the Los Angeles Center of Photography and conducts workshops worldwide: you can find him at harveysteinphoto.com or on Instagram @stein.harvey

11th International Call Exhibition:
A Juried look at Contemporary Photography
Our 11th International Open Call exhibition will open on May 15th as a showcase for contemporary photography as complied by Zora J Murff & Rana Young, Providence based artists teaching at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. The 55 photographs selected were drawn from a pool of almost 700 images to provide an updated look at current photographic practice and we would like to thank everyone who submitted work for consideration. In the end, the exhibition brings together the work of 55 photographers from 19 States, Canada and Italy to be a part of our 11th Open Call Exhibition. We are excited to be able to continue this annual exhibition for 2025, providing the opportunity to bring the work of so many talented photographers to Providence.

Bill Parker: A Matter of Influence
Collected Works by Students, Friends & Colleagues of William E. Parker
This exhibition brings together a selection of artwork created by artists influenced by the teaching of William E. (Bill) Parker (1932-2009), as curated by Bob Martin to honor and reflect on Bill Parker’s influence on photography and the careers of the assembled exhibitors. Each invited artist had their subsequent careers’, influenced to some large degree by their association with Bill, either as student, friend or colleague.
In addition to concepts and work by William E. Parker, the exhibition will present a small collection of work by: Renee Allie, Maruro Altamura, Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock, John Back, Reenie Barrows, Stephan Brigidi, Hilary French, Wendy Gogel, Peg Harrigan, Ted Hendrickson, Bob Kelley, Mary Kocol, Dean Kotula, Bob Martin, Stephen Petegorski, David Seigel, Jim Stone, Brian Swift & John Willis.
About: William E. Parker
Bill Parker was an outstanding visual arts educator, having served such institutions as Pratt Institute; Parsons School of Design (both as dean and vice president); the School of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut (1969-94); and the Rhode Island School of Design, where for two decades, he was a visiting artist in graduate photography.

Come for Coffee, Conversation and to Share the joys, (and challenges) of Analog Photography.
Open to Members, and prospective members, who are working with film, or other analog photographic process. This program will run on the first Saturday of the month, and much like our Print Share & Peer Review program, will offer participants the opportunity to share their work, their knowledge, and their resources. The program will also provide the opportunity for short presentations by members or invited presenters.

Bring a few prints, half a dozen (or more) will do or just come to observe and share your feedback. A chance to share work in progress and both give and get constructive feedback from your peers in an interactive experience. Members or prospective members are encouraged to bring a print or small selection of prints to share with the group. This is a not a formal portfolio review, but a chance to receive some feedback from fellow members on your current work.

Exhibition catalogs are a new program launched in 2023 and are available for most of our exhibitions. Catalogs are available in the gallery in limited quantities and links to order can be found on the respective exhibition pages and collected here to be ordered for home delivery
Individual Portfolio/Project Reviews:
Individual feedback opportunities are available on an ongoing basis in four different formats for 2023. These review sessions can be used to preview new work, share ideas and explore future directions or projects in development. Appointments can be scheduled online for Zoom or in person sessions at www.riphotocenter.org/portfolio-reviews-and-consultations
Registration is open for our annual 20 minute individual Member review sessions.
We are also offering 45 minute one on one sessions open to the public via zoom or in person at the Gallery
New for 2022 we will also be offering “Lunch with the Director” for those interested in a more immersive conversations about your work and your goals. Lunch is included with these two hour more casual sessions. Questions can be directed to gallery@riphotocenter.org
Print Share:
Our next Print Share & Peer Review session is scheduled for June 11th
These peer review sessions are open to interested in sharing and commenting on work with fellow members and enthusiasts. Bring your prints to this monthly event which is generally scheduled for the Second Wednesday of each month and starts at 6:30pm. Check the events section on our website for more information and updates.
