Join us 5:00pm April 28, for an artist talk with Member A. Cemal Ekin, Educator, Photographer & Keeper of Light at keptlight.com This Zoom presentation follows his Orchis project from inspiration to presentation and includes screening a video of the resulting live ballet, Orchis choreographed by Viktor Plotnikov and performed by the Festival Ballet Company.
Festival Ballet Providence commissioned the ballet and Cemal’s photographs were projected on a 15′ x 20′ screen in the form of a carefully timed slide show while the ballet dancers performed on stage. The ballet, started with a collection of Cemal’s photographs.

About A. Cemal Ekin:
A retired professor of marketing emeritus from Providence College, Cemal is a frequent lecturer and workshop instructor. Workshops cover a wide range of topics from the finer points of digital printing to presentations his own travels. On his website, keptlight.com you will find posts covering a range of topics from critical thinking on photography to techniques and tools. Cemal enjoys talking about photography as much as he does photographing.
This virtual presentation will provide a little introduction, screening of the full ballet, Orchis video, then introduce some of the “characters” from the collaborative art that brought together photography, music, choreography, costume and stage design. The presentation will last for about 60 minutes including the 30-minute long Orchis video.
