A Juried look at Landscape Photography in 2025
Our first comprehensive look at Landscape Photography will open on November 20th, 2025. Assembled from a Call for Entries to Explore, Capture, and Document landscapes, from the natural to the constructed, this exhibition is presented with the hope of updating how we define the genre, which landscapes we chose to celebrate, which to remember, and how we might imagine a brighter future.
The work in this exhibition was selected from an international call for entries to provide an updated look at current photographic practice, and by extension a look at life in 2025 as seen by our juror, Cara Weston. The 85 photographs selected were drawn from a pool of over 700 images to assemble this exhibition and we would like to thank everyone who submitted work for consideration. After three curated exhibitions exploring updated ideas of landscape photography, this exhibition brings together the from work 66 photographers to be a part of our first juried look at Landscape Photography. Collectively the exhibition presents a diverse cross section of what Landscape photography might be and provides an updated look at what is possible. We will be reviewing all entries at a later date as we look for photographers to feature in 2026 and beyond.

From the Juror: Cara Weston
As I reflect on all the wonderful images I just viewed, I want to make it clear that being a juror on any group of artworks is totally subjective of the person or juror viewing the work. Photography like all art is personal, and reflects the insights of the person creating it.
What I might think makes a good image or which makes something stir in me, might be totally different looking from a different set of eyes.
This being said I want to say all the images I looked at were striking, but some stood out a bit more to me and how I see and feel the world around us.
I was delighted that each and everyone of you took the time to create these images and to share them. Entering a contest can be a big step for any artist, because it is revealing oneself to the viewing eyes of the world.
I enjoyed every image I viewed. It was difficult to go through over seven hundred images and bring it to a group of 50 to 80. The ones I picked spoke something to me personally, whether it was emotional, or a well composed image, or colors or tones that sparked delight in my brain.
I want to thank you all for sharing your images and I feel the final exhibition I selected is a magical range of images to represent a wide range of interest as well as talents.

About the Juror: Cara Weston
Cara is an accomplished photographer, and educator, based in Carmel, CA. She has exhibited widely, and is represented by the Weston Gallery, Lumiere Gallery, Scott Nichols Gallery, Jeff Appel Photographs, and The Stephen Hoffman Gallery in Germany.
As former director of the Weston Gallery in Carmel, she curated shows that included exhibitions for luminaries such as Yousuf Karsh, Ansel Adams, Michael Kenna and of course Edward, Cole and Brett Weston. In addition to gallery exhibitions, Cara has curated shows in Los Angeles and New York that featured the best works of today’s fine art photographers.
Cara is the Granddaughter of Edward Weston, and shares this about her heritage and how it has influenced her own work: “More than anything, there is a shared predisposition of spirit; to see the world with a sense of wonder and a drive to distill its essences of light and shadow into a moment that is transformed into a collective experience – one that transcends its fleeting nature to become eternal. The desire for peace that exists in each of our hearts can find refuge in the beauty captured by my family’s images and you can stand as more than an observer, but also, like I have, as an artist whose own creativity is refreshed and inspired by it – I am grateful for their lessons.”
