Update from the Director. As we head in to fall we have a number of programs and exhibition updates to announce.
Members Show Second Chance Reception
We are hosting a Second Chance reception for our current exhibitions on Wednesday, September 26th 5:00 – 9:00 pm This a chance for everyone who was not able to make Thursday’s opening for Jerry Takigawa’s Balancing Cultures and our Juried Member’s Exhibition. We were fortunate enough to have both our featured artist, Jerry Takigawa and juror Annu Palakunnathu Matthew in attendance for the opening reception along with a steady flow of engaged members and visitors. Awards were presented, congratulations to new member Elizabeth Graham who earned first place for her entries Prairie Trail and Scarlett. As the prize for first place, Elizabeth will be preparing for a solo show in our Focus Gallery, at a time yet to be scheduled. The runner-up prizes of free passes to our October Light Studies Workshop at WaterFire were awarded to Jessika Davis and Linda Megathlin.
Waterfire Workshop With David H. Wells
On the weekend of October 6-7th, we will be running our next workshop. It will be a two day Light Studies at WaterFire with David Wells. The workshop will start with a presentation at the center before moving on to the river to photograph and conclude the following day with a review session. Salon With David H. Wells
Our next Salon will be on October 10th and will feature Traveling with David H Wells – The Art of One Bag Travel David will be sharing prep and travel trips based on his years of traveling and leading Photo workshops.
One Gun Gone Coming
The Call for entries to support One Gun Gone has closed and we are waiting for the delivery of the 53 pieces selected by juror Boris Bally. Thanks to everyone who entered in support of this initiative. The exhibition will open on Gallery Night Thursday, October 17th. This juried call for entries addressing gun violence will include a show within a show featuring work produced by students involved in One Gun Gone. Their work will include a selection of wax sculptures and other media.
Print Share Night
We will be hosting our next Print Share Night on October 24th 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Bring some work to share in this informal peer review session. Members or prospective members are encouraged to bring a small selection of prints to share with the group. This is a not a formal portfolio review, but a chance to receive some feedback from fellow members on your work. Come, to meet some members, see the current exhibition and learn about membership opportunities.
