
Updates for Current Programs and Exhibition Schedule through February 2019
Jerry Takigawa’s Balancing Cultures and our Juried Member’s Exhibition is on view through October 12th. Make time to stop in and see these remarkable exhibitions. New Member, Elizabeth Graham earned first place for her entries Prairie Trail and Scarlett and will be preparing for an upcoming solo show in our Focus Gallery.
Workshop October 6-7th: We are running a two day Light Studies at WaterFire with David Wells. The workshop will start with a presentation at the center before moving on to the river to photograph and conclude the following day with a review session. Salon Night: October 10th, 7:00 – 9:00 pm Will feature Traveling with David H. Wells – The Art of One Bag Travel. David will be sharing prep and travel trips based on his years of traveling and leading Photo workshops.
Pickup October 13th: Noon – 4:00 pm Pickup day for those with work in Juried Members show
One Gun Gone: Thoughts and Prayers are NOT Enough exhibitions will open on Gallery Night Thursday, October 18th, 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Join us for the opening of this exhibition of work addressing gun violence selected by juror Boris Bally. Opening night will include the awards presentation and include a show within a show featuring work produced by students involved in One Gun Gone. Their work will include a selection of wax sculptures and other media. Thanks to everyone who entered in support of this initiative.
Print Share Night: October 24th 7:00 – 9:00 pm Bring some work to share in this informal peer review session. Members or prospective members are encouraged to bring a small selection of prints to share with the group. This is a not a formal portfolio review, but a chance to receive some feedback from fellow members on your work. Come to meet some members, see the current exhibition and learn about membership opportunities.
November in the Galleries: Dawn Watson & The Annual Holiday Members Open Show. Dawn Watson will be exhibiting as our invited guest photographer in the Focus Gallery. Dawn will be exhibiting a selection of work from her Still series in a solo presentation. In the Community Gallery, we will be hosting The Second Annual Holiday Members Exhibition, this Open Exhibition and Holiday sale are open to members at every level. Two entries each, photography in any style, process or subject. Stay tuned for the call announcement. Entry is Free for Exhibiting Members and above, $20 for Community Members, membership is required. January in the Galleries: Michael Benari & The Naked Print, a Juried Call for Entries. Michael Benari will be exhibiting as our invited guest photographer in our Focus Gallery. In the Community Gallery, we will be mounting The Naked Print a juried call for entries to explore surface and ink on paper. This is a chance to explore alternate presentation options and substrates. Open to all subject matter framed or unframed, no glass or plexi, The call will be listed on CaFE and juried by Steven Fisher. Details and more info on our website shortly… RIPhotoCenter.org
February in the Galleries: We will be clearing the galleries for our next Open Call Exhibition. This is an opportunity to present work of your choosing, no theme or prompt. This exhibition is mounted as an international showcase for contemporary voices in photography. This is a chance to submit your strongest work for review by a nationally recognized juror. This call will be run via CaFE. Details to follow.
