Claim your Frame:
one roll of film, one camera, one shared challenge
We are looking for 36 Members interested in adding one shot to a single roll of film. From this one roll of film, we will be publishing a Zine and creating an online showcase of our Member’s talents and interests.
We are looking for member photographers to participate in this unique project.
Participants will be sharing a Pentax Spotmatic 35mm camera preloaded with Ilford HP5 Black & White film. The camera will be passed from one participating member to the next until all 36 frames have been exposed. Once the camera has been returned to the gallery, the film will be processed and each participant will be sent a scan of their frame.
From this one roll of film, we going to produce a Zine and a handmade book, complete with a genuine (gelatin silver) contact sheet. We are looking to showcase the talents of our participating members while exploring the unique experience of shooting film. The project will be presented online, and featured in our Street Side gallery space. Your challenge is to expose one frame, and one frame only, to add your mark to this project.
What do you want add, how do you want to be remembered, what image, or style best represents you? This is a wide open invitation to participate and show us what you see, what you feel, or what you look like. With only one frame per photographer, it is not too soon to start planning your shot.
This offer comes to you in large part thanks to Member, George Lowell and his partner Connie for donating a very clean and complete Pentax 35mm system to be made available for members to use.

Our camera system includes a black body Pentax Spotmatic with six lenses,
a Bellows II adaptor for macro work, and a slide copy attachment.
Available Lenses:
28mm f 3.5
35mm f 1.28
50mm f 1.4
50mm f 1.4 Macro
105mm f 1.28
135mm f 1.25
Shooting film is, for those of you who haven’t done it a while, or maybe ever, a more contemplative process, often requiring a certain amount of preplanning. Unlike shooting digital where the feedback is instant, and do overs nearly infinite, shooting film requires a slower more thoughtful approach. In this group project, we are pushing that idea to the extreme, giving each photographer the opportunity to add exactly one image to this project, no bracketing, and no reshoots.
The Zine will include a bio and statement from each of the participants, along with a page featuring the final version of each participating photographers image. The film will be scanned and each photographer will have the option to edit their frame to adjust contrast, exposure etc. creating a final image to be included in the Zine and printed for the exhibition.
This is a first come first served offer for members with a $36 participation fee to cover film, processing and production costs of the zine. Claim your Frame before they are all gone.
Your mission will be to expose one frame, and one frame only, as your contribution to this project.

When the project is completed, the camera will be made available for members use, or if there is enough interest, reloaded and new group project started.
